Strip Game (feat. Leon English)
Given the themes of the album and song, we were tasked with finding a way to tastefully capture a sense of movement, pace, and this concept also gives a nod to the streetracing and general DIY car culture very prevalent in minority communities of Uptown NYC.
We found some clever rigging solutions and mounted a cinema camera on different points of a car to capture a few visually striking shots — then turbocharged it in the edit.
BLKHISTORY (feat. kamaal)
Continuing the theme movement. Basketball served as the central motif for the tension and dexterity of this single. With gum.mp3 being a fan and participant of the game itself, we shot a highlight reel of him working on his game.
We aimed to highlight the delicate blend of finesse, power, and deliberate, syncopated movement that is intrinsic to the game, but also very much reflected in the content of the song.
Rinse FM DJ Mix
In support of the release of Swami & gum’s joint project, ‘State of Emergency’. We filmed a dynamic, multi-cam DJ set where they took turns letting us into the sounds and feelings that helped inform the album.
The mix is interlaced with excerpts from an interview recorded ahead of the album, and is set to release in the near-future.
